Working in hand built ceramics and works on paper, Melinda Laz draws inspiration from such sources as vintage photographs, wallpaper/fabric designs, and the natural world. Her work explores concepts of home, memory, growth and transformation. Printmaking techniques, processes and influences are evident in her ceramic explorations.
Melinda holds a BFA in printmaking from Washington University in St. Louis, MO; a MA in Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and a MA in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Denver. Melinda has participated in over 38 exhibitions including several critically acclaimed solo exhibitions, numerous national juried shows where she has won awards, and participated in a number of invitational shows. She is a member of Lakewood’s Valkarie Gallery. When not teaching or making art, she enjoys exploring the beautiful state of Colorado.
